MOVEMENT: At 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night, almost 800 fans filled up Anteater Stadium to watch UC Irvine’s conference opener against Cal Poly.

Soccer: UC Irvine shook off their 2-0 loss to the University of South Florida by crushing the University of Nevada, Las Vegas 4-0 at home on Sept. 23.

SIB: Eighth ranked UC Irvine suffered a tough 7-4 loss against the top-ranked USC in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Opener on Saturday.

The UC Irvine men’s soccer team is riding a historic run this season, starting off with a 7-1-0 record for the first time in school history.

UCI: The Anteaters are 5-5 after beating Utah State and losing in straight sets to Idaho over the weekend.

IRVINE: The men’s water polo team edged Long Beach and was pounded by the Trojans in the NorCal Tournament.

Across the street from Fashion Island at 100 Newport Center Dr. in Newport Beach, there stands a building that could be mistaken for a bank, a law firm or a real estate company. It’s actually a free sports museum. So why would Newport Beach, a city that doesn’t have a professional or collegiate athletics program have a museum dedicated to sports? Why not?!

After a 4-0 start, the women’s soccer team has faltered somewhat in the month of September, going 1-2-1 since. In comparison, the team only lost three games in 2010. Scott Juniper’s squad must rebound this week against Portland at home on Thursday and on the road at the University of San Diego on Sunday. At 5-2-1, the Anteaters are just behind their 5-1-2 record at the eight game mark of the 2010 season, but the ’Eaters won’t sweat it.

DEFEATED: After starting 7-0, the men’s soccer team faltered against USF on Sept. 18 in Florida.
