A capacity crowd for a basketball game at the Bren Events Center is 4,984. During many athletic events, the Bren is nothing but a sea of empty blue seats with a few spectators sprinkled here and there. On special nights, the Bren can feature a boisterous crowd of one to 2,000. However, when a blue moon casts its shadow over UC Irvine, 4,000 or more bodies will cram into the Bren Events Center to watch a basketball game.

ANTEATERS: The men’s team lost two nail-biters, while the women spilt their match-ups.

In today’s day and age, nothing is free. When someone comes across something free, he or she must take advantage of it.

CUT: Hise and serveral alumni tried to save the rowing programs but their attempts went to no avail.

Over the past several months, the declining economy seems to be affecting everyone negatively. However, with the culmination of the UC system’s budget cuts, schools becoming impacted and the ever impending constant threat of rising fees and tuition, it is clear that students are the ones being hit the hardest. Students attending UC’s such as UC Irvine are considered the cream of the crop, whether it is for academics or athletics.

RIVAL: Irvine defeated Long Beach State 86-76 on Saturday night in front of a huge Homecoming crowd.

The win against Long Beach State was hands down the best win of the year, and hopefully a win that UC Irvine can use to carry momentum forward. After a tough stretch of losing six out of seven, UCI is all of a sudden on a nifty three-game winning streak.
