New University welcomes new additions to editorial staff and board

On Jan. 2, the start of the winter quarter, New University welcomed Assistant Copy Editor Mia Noergaard ‘25 and Assistant News Editor Jeralynn Querubin ‘26 to the editorial staff. Additionally, New University welcomed Opinion Editor Zahira Vasquez ‘25 as a new member of the editorial board. 

Noergaard, a criminology, law, & society and psychological science double major, has been with the publication since summer 2024. She has served as a copy intern, copy staff editor and copy apprentice. 

Querubin, a literary journalism major and transfer student, joined New University after serving as a fellow for the California Humanities Emerging Journalist Fellowship in spring 2024. In 2023, she worked as a staff writer for American River College’s student-run newspaper, The Current. 

Vasquez joined the editorial board after becoming opinion editor, following her previous role as assistant opinion editor. 

The editorial staff now consists of 24 editors and managers, while the editorial board remains unchanged with six members. New University’s growing staff remains committed to providing the UCI community with accurate, timely and ethical coverage. The new editorial board also remains committed to continuing to use its platform to inform the UCI community.
