Irvine — one of the safest cities in the United States — and often times, claimed to be one of the most boring too. Though it may lack the exhilarating nightlife Los Angeles offers, Irvine by no means falls short in beauty. Distributed throughout Orange County are small pockets of undiscovered paradise.

Anything with the suffix –cide in it is always about killing something.

This summer I spent a great deal of time with my family in a tiny town where football brings everyone out on Friday nights in the fall — a town where players walk like kings. Cheerleaders are known as campus royalty.

The room is dark. Blinds drawn and lights off, it’s slightly hard to make out Alex Truong’s face, dimly lit by the glow of his computer monitor.

Frilly frocks, strappy sandals, bright blazers and jewelry that gives just the right shine under the sun; all are indicative of one time of year: summer.

There are a plethora of foods that provide you with your daily vitamins and minerals. Some give you a good chunk of fiber and protein, while others contain disease-fighting nutrients.

One of the best things about the summer is the promise of stone fruits and berries.

In addition to late-night Starbucks runs, summer school deadlines and review sessions, Week 10 is savvy to the annual making of the glorious “Summer To-Do List."

When I found out I got the Associate Features editor position for this year, I was excited. For my resume. I had friendly, but low, expectations for my fellow editors. I knew they would be nice people, and I would most likely enjoy the company of most of them.

I slowly slide my foot into it, and find myself surprised at how I have to wiggle and twist my toes to make them fit into their individual sections of the shoe. I then push my foot forward so that it perfectly fits within the shoe, and adjust the strap.
