It was a full house at the last showing of “Mad Madge and Her Blazing World” on Sunday, October 28 at the Experimental Media Performance Lab. The two-hour performance consisted of only eight actors who each played dozens of characters, from English royalty to French citizens to talking animals. Adapted and directed by Annie Loui and performed by Counterbalance Theater, “Mad Madge” is based on the novel “Margaret the First” by Danielle Dutton.

When most people think of comics, they automatically think of that section in Sunday’s newspaper or the massive Marvel and DC comics universes.

With the new quarter comes New Forum’s first event of the season: Open Mic. HG 1010 was alight with laughter and delicious smells of food at 6pm as New Forum invited Anteaters to their first reading on October 10th. The immediate draw of the room was the sight of strawberries, cookies, cheese, and crackers, ready to appease starving college students seeking free food and a chance to share their creativity. The delicious snacks, however, were not the best part of New Forum’s open mic.

Friday nights in California are unpredictable in the best of ways.

With the second season of the soap opera reboot "Dynasty" premiering this Friday, it seems appropriate to reflect on the drama, humor, and unconventional family dynamics that have contributed to the show’s success thus far.

In the weeks leading up to Friday, September 29; equipment troubles plagued the Irvine Barclay Theater. However, everything was up and running in time for the first performance of the theatre’s 28th season.

Despite a lopsided programming schedule, Aldrich Park After Dark (APAD) 2018 on September 25 was more enjoyable than a free Week Zero concert has any right to be.

The golden rule for concerts is that a performer is worth seeing if they sound better live than they do professionally recorded and mastered.

Currently playing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, the Philip touring cast of Lin Manuel-Miranda’s hit show “Hamilton” has visited multiple theaters, each stage different from the one before.

Crystal Cove Auditorium has never looked so serene — softly dimmed string lights, two ordinary mic stands and a modest lava lamp on either end of the stage foretold the poetic evening that was to come.
