Letters from Idaho containing white powder with the words "black death" printed inside have been found in the mailboxes of seemingly random UC Irvine faculty this week.
I met my girlfriend in my dorm during my freshman year and we really hit it off. The next year we ended up being in the same apartment complex (we don’t live in the same apartment, just the complex) and have been living there for the past quarter.
Look at the sky! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… something out of the ordinary. The earthly skies become more surreal when UFOs fly into the blue yonder. UFOs (Unidentified Flying Objects) are definitely out of this world, but may be not out of this universe. These strange flying objects have inspired pop culture, especially films such as “District 9” and “Independence Day,” and have inspired people and governments into further exploration of the weird and bizarre.
When I was ten I moved from the cloudy skies of Canada to the sunny beaches of California. At first I was appalled by the snowless winters of Los Angeles, the people wearing thick jackets when it was only 12 degrees Celsius (54 degrees Fahrenheit), and the palm trees covered in Christmas lights, as if they were determined to hang onto the summer heat.
Howard is not tall, or handsome, or daunting. He is small and delicate, his every intricacy exposed. He is a thin white and gray skeleton flecked with soft, dark strips that hang like flesh off his reptilian physique. He is cold to the touch. Howard directs, instructs, and heals. He is strong when others are weak.
What are Facebook or social media sites in general? Some call them voracious, black holes in which to waste precious time; others deem them indispensable links between friends and loved ones. But in the end, they’re just Web sites, right?
Back in the days of cassette tapes and Walkman personal stereos, a single genre of music dominated our FM radio waves. It was called simply “pop music” back then, but all you need to call it today is “‘90s pop” and everyone knows exactly who and what you’re talking about: The Backstreet Boys. ‘N Sync. Christina Aguilera. Britney Spears. If you didn’t know all the lyrics to “Baby One More Time,” then you must have been living in a cave.
