Less than one month after the news broke of her return to Broadway alongside Hugh Jackman in the upcoming “The Music Man” revival, Sutton Foster performed on the Irvine Barclay stage as part of the theater’s Broadway Cabaret Series.

Shakespeare’s “Love’s Labour’s Lost” was recently performed at the Claire Trevor Theater, from Feb. 21-25. The director, Andrew Borba, made an ambitious attempt at incorporating Shakespearean prose in the style of a 1930s newsroom. The play’s original setting of Navarre is transformed into a newspaper publication, with King Ferdinand as the editor-in-chief.

Claire Trevor School of the Arts Drama Department opened its 2018-2019 season with the award-winning broadway musical “Legally Blonde” on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Irvine Barclay Theatre. The delightfully hilarious show, teeming with over the top stereotypes, is pushed into the arena of 21st-century relevance by director Myrona DeLaney.

It was a full house at the last showing of “Mad Madge and Her Blazing World” on Sunday, October 28 at the Experimental Media Performance Lab. The two-hour performance consisted of only eight actors who each played dozens of characters, from English royalty to French citizens to talking animals. Adapted and directed by Annie Loui and performed by Counterbalance Theater, “Mad Madge” is based on the novel “Margaret the First” by Danielle Dutton.

Currently playing at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, the Philip touring cast of Lin Manuel-Miranda’s hit show “Hamilton” has visited multiple theaters, each stage different from the one before.
