The UC Irvine Women’s Track and Field team was awarded multiple academic honors for their performance in the 2025-2026 academic year on July 20. This was highlighted with the team being named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team, as the program had an at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA).
Nineteen students were awarded with Dean’s List honors in the Spring 2026 quarter and eight were awarded with All-Academic Team honors. Dean’s List honors requires student-athletes to have a 3.50 GPA or higher in a quarter. However, the USTFCCCA All-Academic honors requires student-athletes to have a 3.25 cumulative GPA or higher, to have attended the same institution for at least three quarters and to have qualified for a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) postseason opportunity in the outdoor season.
The student-athletes did not only excel in the classroom, but they also had strong performances around the track.
All-Academic Team member and senior Jazzmine Davis had a strong showing at the Wolf Pack Classic where she finished with a long jump of 5.57 meters on Feb. 6 — placing her in eighth place behind her teammate, junior Kailah McKenzie, who placed fifth with a 5.72 meter jump. Jazzmine Davis also had a third place finish of 8.55 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles final on Feb. 7. This was at the same meet where junior Halle Sutherland broke the school 200 meter record at 24.10 seconds and finished seventh in the 60 meter contest at 7.59 seconds. She won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Athlete of the Week for these performances.
Dean’s List and All-Academic Team member junior Esmeray Demirbas finished second in the high jump at the Wolf Pack Classic with a jump of 1.68 meters, and sixth in the women’s 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.78 seconds.
Dean’s List member junior Alana Sugue also had a strong showing at the Wolf Pack Classic, as she placed fourth in the pole vault event with a vault of 3.86 meters.
One of the strongest full team performances the Anteaters had during the season was a sixth place finish in the 4×400 meter relay at the Wolf Pack Classic, where they finished with a time of 3:47.91. San Diego State University finished first in the relay.
Other members on the Dean’s List include freshman Grace Baxter, senior Nicole Contreras, freshman Natalie Gonzalez Moreno, junior Emma Hadley, sophomore Cynthia Herrera, sophomore Liana Lee, senior Marjourie Lopez, sophomore Rachel Moen, sophomore Jackie Pan, sophomore Anna Soares, freshman Jessie Condliff, senior DeAna Davis, sophomore Elisabeth Driscoll, freshman Gabrielle Hawkins, junior Giselle Rodriguez, junior Kaylee Tan and senior Zharia Taylor.
Other members of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team are DeAna Davis, Hadley, Rodriguez, Taylor and junior Kaia Schmidt.
Graduate student Aoife Hernon, who qualified for the NCAA First Round in 2026, was a big winner with academic awards — most notably being named UC Irvine’s female Big West Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic team.
