January 26, 2020 — Just like any other day, people woke up that Sunday and went about their weekly routine. Whether that was catching up on homework, running errands or even just relaxing from a long week of school or work.
However, this Sunday felt off from the start. An overcast loomed over Southern California that made it feel different. Maybe not for everyone, as people were too busy being caught up with their own lives. This sort of routine is what makes people forget what it truly means to appreciate something before it is gone forever. Before it vanishes from reality itself.
The UCI men’s basketball team began their Big West Conference play against Hawaii at the Bren Events Center on Jan. 11, improving to 9-8 overall and 1-0 in conference as they ran away with a 74-60 victory. The team looked to bounce back after a close loss against Harvard in their previous match-up and looked to pick up right where they left off last season as the best team in the league.
With their first round of 32 appearance in the NCAA tournament, the UC Irvine Anteaters faced off against the twelfth-seeded Oregon Ducks in hopes of continuing their extraordinary run into the Sweet 16 and extend their 17 game winning streak, the longest current streak in the entire nation.
The long awaited four year drought is finally over and the UC Irvine men’s basketball team is back in the NCAA National Tournament. The Anteaters heading in as the 13 seed as they faced the fourth seeded Kansas State Wildcats this past Friday, in the first round of the nationally televised event.
At the start of the 2018-2019 NBA season, high expectations were placed on the Los Angeles Lakers season. The summer of free agency saw them land some big names, one of those being three-time champion Lebron James. By Henry Curi

Both coming off of a five-game winning streak, the two teams battled in a much anticipated tournament rematch following last year’s competition which saw Fullerton coming out on top.

The UC Irvine men’s basketball team matched up against Big West Conference rival Long Beach State this past Wednesday in a game that had both teams rolling to start the season, coming off a win from each of their previous match-ups.
On January 10, UC Irvine Men’s basketball team faced off against conference rival UC Davis Aggies at home. It was the first regular season game for both teams, who have had intense and deciding match-ups in the previous two seasons.
