Meet the 2025-26 Editorial Staff!
Skylar Paxton
Editor in ChiefSkylar Paxton is a third-year Literary Journalism major. She joined New University in the fall of 2022 as an Opinion intern. In the spring of 2024, Skylar wrote for News during the UCI Pro-Palestine Encampment. She also works for KUCI News. During her free time, she likes to listen to Beyoncé and do origami.
Kaelyn Kwon
Managing EditorKaelyn is a third-year public health sciences student. She first joined New University as an Assistant News Editor in summer 2024 and led the Features section's return in fall 2024 as Features Editor. When she isn’t editing, Kaelyn enjoys reading fantasy novels and crocheting.
Annia Pallares zur Nieden
Managing EditorAnnia is a third-year literary journalism and political science double major. In the winter of 2025, she joined New University as a features intern. In 2024, Annia was selected as a Frederick Douglass-Daniel O'Connell Global Intern and spent the summer reporting and investigating international breaking news with Storyful at its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland. In her free time, she enjoys watching movies, reading and traveling.
Adwik Chaturvedi
Operations ChiefAdwik is a second-year Business Economics major. Other than being the Operations Chief for the 2025-26 school year, his interests include beatboxing, fitness, creative writing, and riding motorcycles.
Annabelle Aguirre
Copy ChiefAnnabelle Aguirre is a Copy Chief for the 2025-2026 school year. She joined as a copy intern in fall 2023. Outside of New U, she is a third-year Korean Literature and Culture major. She also is a copy editor for a publishing house located in Laguna. In her free time she enjoys reading fiction books and spending time with her friends and family.
Mia Noergaard
Assistant Copy EditorMia Noergaard is an Assistant Copy Editor for the 2025-2026 school year. She joined New U as a copy intern in summer 2024. Outside of New U, Mia is a fourth-year Criminology, Law, & Society and Psychological Science double major. In her free time, she enjoys reading and watching baking shows with her cat.
Joshua Gonzales
Assistant Copy EditorJoshua Gonzales is an Assistant Copy Editor for the 2024-2025 school year. He joined New University as a Copy Intern in Winter 2024. Outside of New U, he is a political science and public health policy double major. In his free time, he loves to play guitar, cook new meals, and drive to new places.
Jeralynn Querubin
News EditorJeralynn Querubin is a third-year transfer student majoring in Literary Journalism. She is the News Editor for New University. Jeralynn was a staff writer for American River College's student-run newspaper, the The Current, in 2023. She was also a fellow for the California Humanities Emerging Journalist Fellowship in Spring of 2024.

Corinna Chin is an assistant Arts & Entertainment Editor majoring in Literary Journalism and Social Policy and Public Service. This is her second year with New U. She enjoys covering entertainment events that allow her to explore the UCI and Irvine community.

Jack Fedor
Sports EditorJack has been writing for various publications for the past six years and he has covered a variety of topics such as campus life, news, features, politics, education, community news and most recently sports. He enjoys almost all aspects of UC Irvine and has a particular interest in the athletics at UC Irvine, whether intercollegiate, club or intramural. His favorite UC Irvine game to this point has been the Men's Soccer vs UC Davis Big West Championship in 2023. You can usually find Jack on campus at a variety of events, but almost always at UC Irvine intercollegiate athletic events.
Benjamin Flores
Assistant Sports EditorBenjamin is currently a third year Literary Journalism major with a minor in English. Being an avid reader and sports fan, Benjamin feels right at home in New University's sports department; enjoying the excitement of a game, and the rush of a story. Since 2023, Benjamin has been committed to the sports department, and continues to work towards a career in feature writing post graduation – hoping to focus on obscure or overlooked subjects/stories. Outside UCI, Benjamin enjoys watching movies, reading books, and watching the Dodgers daily.
Jaden Hunter
Assistant Sports EditorJaden Hunter is a third year Literary Journalism major born and raised in the Bay Area. Ever since he can remember, sports has played a major role in Jaden’s life, whether it be playing, watching or reporting. Channeling this passion, Jaden plans on pursuing a career in the sports media industry. His favorite memory covering for the New University was traveling to Henderson, Nevada and covering the UCI WBB team.
Isabella Ehring
Opinion EditorIsabella Ehring is the Opinion Editor for the 2025-2026 school year. She joined New U as an opinion intern in Fall 2024. She is a political science major.
Rebecca Do
Assistant Opinion EditorRebecca Thu Khanh Do is an Assistant Opinion Editor for the 2025-2026 academic year. She is a political science major with a minor in history. Her interests include American government, Middle Eastern politics and pop culture.
Casey Mendoza
Assistant Opinion EditorCasey has been with the New University since winter of 2025. He writes and edits for the Opinion section and has a particular affinity for satire. During childhood, his idea of fun was writing expository essays on insects and reptiles. This tendency has followed him to his college years, although he now focuses on American politics and governance rather than strange animals. As a columnist, he is focused on facilitating critical discussion about the nation and the issues it faces. As an editor, he aims to aid New University’s talented writers in expressing their perspectives with accuracy, nuance and conviction. His ultimate goal is encouraging reason and integrity, both within himself and for others. With luck, he hopes he may even learn to express himself in a way that is at least partially intelligible, if not indicative of basic literacy skills.

Outside of NewU, Angie works at UCI's Clean Energy Institute in the marketing department. In her free time, she loves Marvel, Disney, reading, watching drama shows, dancing and making all sorts of crafts.

Sarah Millington is a third year Psychological Sciences and Criminology, Law and society major. She is the New University Photo Manager and one of the Social Media Managers for the 2025-2026 school year. Sarah has a passion for media and publicity, and feels strongly about capturing photos to facilitate journalism. She is also an avid writer and loves all things creative so she is especially excited to continue working with New University in a leadership role. In her personal time, she loves spending time with her cat, Bambi and baking sweet treats!

Caroline Lu is a third-year literary journalism and business economics double major. She has been a part of the New U social team since her freshman year and is passionate about multimedia storytelling. In her free time she enjoys spending time in nature, reading, and creative writing.
Alyssa Villagonzalo
Features EditorAlyssa is a fourth year English major with minors in Humanities and Law, Literary Journalism, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. In addition to being Features Editor, she also works as a Features Staff Writer. Since joining New University as an intern in the fall of 2024, she has found a passion for journalism which she had never known existed. When she isn't writing or editing, Alyssa enjoys listening to R&B and pop artists SZA, Daniel Caesar, and Dominic Fike.
Aditya Biswas
Assistant Features EditorAditya is a first year civil engineering major. His interest in journalism stemmed from a desire to elevate the many stories that often go unheard. In addition to being a Features Editor, he also has a passion for photography, traveling, food, hanging out with friends, and going to the beach.
Sarah Murdaah
Video ManagerSarah is a third year political science major with a minor in literary journalism. She also has a passion for filmmaking and broadcast journalism and has been involved in video production since high school. During her time in the newspaper, she has focused on covering cultural events and fostering diversity on campus through a creative visual format. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, hiking and going to the beach.
